The ugly face of elitism

If you don't mind the circumcision of the apostrophe from the already shortened form of "it is," then you'll love Tuesday's offering from Edell, where he discusses his inevitable downgrading of status due to his lack of air miles this year.  For the rest of us, it was a train ride to Mundane calling at Brag Parkway, and briefly stopping to add carriages at Oh For Fucks Sake Central.

Edell's blasting of European tennis scoring gives us yet another example of his racist kernel that so often plagues his work.  He could have written about the love in scores and gone onto deliver a real contribution of poetry or prose, but rather insisted that scoring was deliberately obfuscated by suggesting that an irrational number could be one sides value.

A quick scan for the word "I" in Edell's article yields fifty results (see picture above) which gives you an insight into how this man's mind works.

Edell takes the usual literary bread and butter of three solid points and bloats them up while watering them down, leaving us with a final, "Some dumb fifth thing."  It was at this point that I wished my good eye exploded, leaving me with only my 20/100 eye facing upwards to praise the sweet Jesus, Mohammad or Bilbo that saved me.

Then we witness something remarkable; a slight glimpse into the true insecurities of a man who trades on his height and ability to punch inanimate and faceless objects in the face.  When he talks of "perhaps a lesson of humility," we, for the first time, get a sense of the true heart that drives the arrogance.  But don't despair, it doesn't last long before he's back to his old ways talking about what "trashy folk those third tier elite members are."

Enjoy?  Not today Mr Edell, not today.
